Matches
All participating teams are guaranteed between five and eight matches. We aim to create groups that ensure you will face as many teams from other countries and regions as possible, different from those you encounter during the season.
All matches are played outdoors on grass fields. The area is divided into sections A, B, C, and D, which are all quite close to each other, and the field names are designated by the area letter and number, for example, D1.
U9-U12: For U9 to U12, it is possible to choose whether you want to play all your matches on one day (Saturday or Sunday) or spread them over two days.
U13-U19: After the group stage, the tournament is structured with an A and B playoff to create evenly matched games.
Seniors: After the group stage, the tournament is structured with an A and B playoff to create evenly matched games. The senior tournament is played over two days (Saturday and Sunday) and concludes with an 18+ party on Sunday evening.

Prizes
In the age groups U9 to U12, there are individual prizes.
From U13 to Senior, there are team prizes based on placement in the A or B playoffs. Prizes will be awarded to the two final teams in each category, as well as to the MVP in the final. There will not be a bronze match.

Aalborg Handball Festival
- Much more than a handball cup!
The Aalborg Handball Festival is much more than just a handball cup. It is a festival filled with opportunities to create memories and experiences together that extend far beyond the handball tournament! Below are some of the experiences awaiting you in the compact festival area, where it’s never more than a 10-minute walk from one corner to another.
LIVESCENE
At the festival grounds, there will be a live stage featuring entertainment ranging from music to stand-up comedy and magic shows. We will continuously announce the artists who will perform.
SWIMMING POOL AND WELLNESS
All participants with a participant card receive a discount at Skansen’s swimming pool. Additionally, there is a discount for the Skansen Wellness area for those aged 18 and over.
FOODTRUCKS
Both local and visiting culinary experiences will be available during the festival. The culinary offerings can be found centrally at the festival grounds.
EXHIBITION STANDS
our partners will have stands at the festival area. Here you can buy everything from resin, tape, and ice packs to clothing and souvenirs. The area will also host various competitions, ensuring lively and joyful days at the Aalborg Handball Festival!
MINIGOLF
The local mini-golf course, located in the middle of the festival grounds, will be open throughout the festival, where you can compete against family, teammates, or your new friends from the Aalborg Handball Festival!
PADEL, TENNIS OG SQUASH
Skansen features Padel, tennis, and squash courts that can be booked, so you can challenge your teammate or experience a coach match!
ZIP-LINE
The festival area hosts Denmark's third longest zip line, which will be open if the weather permits.
LEADERS PARTY
We invite you to an informal gathering of coaches, leaders, referees, volunteers, and others contributing to the festival. Here, we can casually discuss handball and other world problems :) Age limit is 18 years.
SENIOR PARTY SUNDAY EVENING
On Sunday evening, after the senior tournament has concluded, there will be a party for all senior teams.
AALBORG CITY CENTER
Aalborg City Center is just 1.8 km from the festival grounds, and there will be public transportation running between the city center and the festival.
PRICES
The price for participating in the Aalborg Handball Festival is divided into a team fee and a participant fee.
Team fee
The team fee depends on the age groups:
U13: DKK 1500,-
U14: DKK 1750,-
U15: DKK 1750,-
U16: DKK 1750,-
U17: DKK 1750,-
U19: DKK 1750,-
Senior: DKK 1750,-
Participant fee
The participant fee depends on the package chosen and has the following prices:
D-kort: DKK 250,- per participant
C-kort: DKK 525,- per participant
B-kort: DKK 775,- per participant
A-kort: DKK 950,- per participant
AA-kort: DKK 2000,- per participant
ACCOMMODATION, PARTICIPANT CARDS AND SERVICES
The team fee covers the team's participation in the Aalborg Handball Festival, and below are the options for purchasing different participant cards to find the solution that best suits your team.
All packages include the official Aalborg Handball Festival T-shirt.
All participant cards and/or services must be purchased via the registration page by May 1, 2025.
Meals
Your meals depends on your choice of participant card.
Breakfast
Breakfast is served at the accommodation.
School: you can eat when you want.
Hotel: Information about breakfast is at the reception.
Lunch
Served in the dining hall at the festival grounds if purchased in advance. Otherwise, food can always be bought at the food stalls on-site.
TRANSPORT & PARKING
We encourage everyone to use public transport to and from the festival.
If you need to rely on a car, we recommend looking for parking in the following areas, which are located 1 km from the festival grounds:
Løvvangscenteret, 800 meters walk to the festival.
Nørresundby Gymnasium & HF, 1,2 km. meters walk to the festival.
Løvbakkeskolens parkeringsplads, Løvvangen 8, 1,4 km. meters walk to the festival.
Tournament Office
The tournament office is located at Skansen, where you can come by with any questions, big or small.
MEDICAL & SAFETY
We have our own medical team. If you need help with anything from blisters to more extensive medical assistance, feel free to stop by.
We also have several people dedicated to ensuring a safe and enjoyable experience both on and around the tournament grounds. These hospitality hosts assist with everything from locating lost equipment to helping people reunite. The tournament's “meeting point” is clearly marked right next to the main entrance at Skansen.
REFEREES AND VOLUNTEERS
Referees and volunteers are a vital part of successfully running a large tournament. Therefore, we have staff dedicated to taking good care of you.

If you want to be part of our amazing team of volunteers, there are many tasks that need to be handled both before, during, and after a large tournament. You can sign up as a volunteer by contacting jon@playhandball.no.
We welcome referees from all over the world, but we only cover accommodation and meals for traveling referees. Travel expenses are not covered for traveling referees. Local referees receive mileage reimbursement according to state-set rates.
Referees are compensated at 150 DKK per hour plus meals.
